While the name says, "senior citizen", our center is not a place where you have to "act your age". As Walt Disney supposedly said, "growing old is mandatory, but growing up is optional". In other words, no matter what your birth certificate might say, you can always laugh, have a good time, celebrate your years, enjoy friendships, and keep having fun.

Activities include BINGO, bridge and pitch groups, an exercise class, some arts and crafts, and occasionally a road trip to the casino or other activity. Call for more details or check the calendar on the home page. The center is also large enough to host events and is open to rent for showers, reunions, seminars and the like. We invite you to come join us for lunch or one of our events.

The Ochiltree Senior Citizens Association exists for the edification, support, and fellowship of Senior Citizens of Ochiltree County and Surrounding areas. It is a banding together to accomplish what cannot be done as individuals, and it demonstrates that senior citizens are an active and vital segment of the community.

The senior citizens center started as an idea during the summer of 1981. A place for seniors over 55 to get together and enjoy comradery, good food and keep an active lifestyle. After some tremendous efforts in fundraising and community support, a groundbreaking ceremony happened in December of 1982. The doors opened in September of 1983 and continues to be a place for seniors to come have lunch but also to feel connected and stay active. A few changes have taken place over the years, namely lowering the membership age to 50 and meals are now served three days a week instead of five, but the core ideas are still the same.

The senior citizens center is more than a building; it is the members - the people. Remember the sitcom "Cheers," Norm walks in, and everyone shouts his name instead of just saying hello or just nodding. So, while we don't have alcohol or a bartender at the center of course, we have that exact same feeling -- a giant welcome, a so glad to see you feeling, you belong, just like you are family, like you are coming home. That's what the center is, a place to get together, connect, visit and of course enjoy some of the best food in Perryton. They say come for the food but stay for the fun, you won't be disappointed.
